Digital Skills Tutor Plymouth (PT)


Job Type: Part Time, Permanent

Salary Range: £18,500 – £22,500 Pro-rata (depending on experience)

Could you help young learners nurture their passion and flair for digital skills? We’re looking for a versatile and adaptable individual who can teach graphic design, computer programming, robotics, music and media disciplines.

You will have working knowledge and examples of projects made using some / all of the following: Adobe Creative Cloud packages, Apple Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Unity, Blender, 3DS Max, Maya and a knowledge of C# programming language.

You will also have examples of some / all of the following: finished music, video, art, apps, website – available to view on video / audio streaming services, website portfolio, Steam, app stores or playstore.

As well as your planning abilities, project realisation and practical knowledge, it would be desirable for you to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience or accredited achievement in at least one of the listed areas. You must have the ability to communicate effectively with young learners on a 1:1 or small group basis, and the enthusiasm to help them learn and thrive. Teaching experience is not essential, but a positive attitude to learning is vital!

It is extremely important that you can show an understanding of a whole project, from initial idea conception, planning and creation, to presentation and reviewing. This work flow and understanding of the creative industries should be demonstrated within your own work or projects you have been involved in / credited in.

Mentor / Assistant Team Leader (The Learning Curve / Prince’s Trust)


Job Description

The Learning Curve works in partnership with The Prince’s Trust to deliver the Team programme in Wiltshire. The Team programme is one of The Trust’s most long-standing and core programmes. It is a full-time 12-week personal development programme for 16 – 25 year olds largely delivered through community work, with the primary aim of building confidence, motivation and skills to help unemployed young people return to education or move into employment.
We are looking for a confident, motivated person who can can take on a tutor / mentor role to young people and help deliver the Team programme in Salisbury to our consistently high standards – could this be you?
Ideally, you will demonstrate:
Strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people within The Learning Curve/The Prince’s Trust target groups
Knowledge of local provision for disadvantaged young people
Good planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of people
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to work on own initiative to find creative solutions to problems
Strong awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and the ability to translate these into effective action
Knowledge of Health & Safety practices and processes
Level 2 in Literacy, ICT and Numeracy (GCSE, Basic Skills Level 2 or equivalent)
Full and clean UK driving licence
Experience of working directly with young people from The Trust’s target groups.
Experience of using IT, e-mail, internet, word-processing and spreadsheet packages, accurately and with good attention to detail

Salary: £16,500 to £26,500 per year (pro rata) depending on experience and qualifications

We’re looking for someone with a flair for practical IT who can inspire, engage, and enable people to learn new skills and achieve their goals.
We need a creative team-player to work with learners 1:1 or in small groups, demonstrating empathy and understanding plus a tenacious attitude and a flexible approach. Everything we do is person-centred, so it’s essential to identify how people overcome and manage their barriers in life and learning. We need to be able to demonstrate the good work you do, so good planning and recording learner achievements will be key to your success.

Do you have a passion for data and great organisational skills? We’re looking for someone who has a keen eye for detail, and experience of data management / finance administration. You’ll be enthusiastic and flexible in meeting the needs of the business and our customers, specifically around Finance, Management Information Systems and facilities.
This role will put you in control of our Finance and Management Information Systems to provide accurate and timely reports. You’ll help ensure progress against key performance indicators to inform our business performance and growth.
You’ll be the go-to person for all data records and returns, a whizz with spreadsheets and have the ability to communicate data and ideas effectively with your colleagues and external partners.
