Parkfield

Parkfield

Parkfield House in Paignton is a Grade II listed building with extensive grounds, that had sadly become overgrown and un-used. We have been undertaking renovation of the park grounds as part of our community work, restoring the area to a place of beauty for local families, dog walkers and residents.

Our contract at Parkfield site offers us amazing hands-on opportunities to help anyone wishing to work in horticulture, grounds maintenance or construction, enabling us to create a virtuous circle of training, renovation and potential employment – it’s a real win-win!

Learners have created a kitchen garden, which we aim to expand over coming years, providing fresh herbs, fruit and produce for our trainee chefs to use for food preparation. They have also tackled wild areas, turning them into a thriving wildlife garden, and have used their carpentry skills to create critter boxes, bird feeders and planters.

Our ‘Go Construct’ project learners have also undertaken construction projects, repairing walls, fences and clearing overgrown areas of woodland, whilst training for their Health & Safety qualification and gaining their CSCS Labourer’s Card.
