Emma's Journey -
Background/Reason for Joining Eat That Frog
Emma initially enrolled on a Functional Skills Maths course with another local provider in Newton Abbot, aiming to achieve a Level 1 Maths qualification. However, she found the course particularly challenging and felt she was not receiving the level of support she needed to thrive. Emma began to feel increasingly left behind by the rest of the group, which significantly affected her confidence and ability to progress.
Determined to improve her skills but needing a different kind of support, Emma sought an alternative pathway to help her succeed.
Support given by Eat That Frog
Emma joined Eat That Frog in January and began working within our bespoke practical multiply courses. Here, she received one-to-one maths support tailored specifically to her individual needs.
This personalised approach allowed Emma to work at her own pace, focusing on the areas she found most challenging. With targeted, compassionate support, Emma gradually gained the skills and understanding she had previously struggled to develop. Although she continued to face difficulties in some topics, the nurturing environment and customised learning journey helped her make substantial progress.
Outcome / Qualifications gained
Emma’s hard work and determination paid off when she successfully passed her Entry Level 3 Maths assessment. This was a significant milestone, as it marked a turning point in her learning journey, boosting both her skills and her self-confidence. Motivated by her achievement and the positive learning experience at Eat That Frog, Emma has now progressed onto Intervention 2 and is actively working towards her Level 1 Maths qualification.
The support provided by Eat That Frog has been the catalyst for Emma’s growing confidence, resilience, and ambition to continue her educational development.
