construction industry, which has been booming in the South West and beyond.
You will learn how to create and tailor your CV and covering letter to apply for suitable jobs. You’ll also gain two qualifications – level 1 award in Skills for Professions in Construction and Engineering and Health & Safety in a Construction Environment which is required by employers and covers risk assessments, hazards, accident reporting, safe manual handling and working at height.
You will have the opportunity to gain your CSCS 5 year labourers card and we will supply you with your own PPE (Hat, Boots, Hi-Vis Vest). This course will also include a practical activity in bricklaying skills.
There will be a blended mixture of online and face to face learning with practical outdoor sessions where available.
If you’re a budding entrepreneur, want to make money for yourself instead of a boss, or to find a flexible way to work around your caring commitments or health issues, then self-employment could be the answer!
Our 6 week programme will help your explore and develop your ideas within a small group setting. You will share idea, info and tips and gain insight into the following areas, to help your business develop:

You may attend individual workshops, but completing the full programme is recommended, and will give you a Level 1 Award from SFEDI, the awarding body for enterprise.

This 2 week programme will get you up to speed with the skills you need to work in cleaning. During this course, you will earn a Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Professions in Catering, Hospitality and Tourism.
You will learn about:
• Chemicals and equipment used for Cleaning in the Hospitality Industry
• Safe, Hygienic and Secure Working Environments
• Personal responsibility for health and safety when in the workplace
• Personal hygiene & identifying hazards
You will also be searching and applying for vacancies in cleaning and facilities management as well as completing job applications for cleaning/facilities management vacancies. Towards the end, you will prepare for and take part in a mock interview.
Running in Torquay and Plymouth, this 4-week training programme is the ideal first step for anyone who wishes to work in the security industry, for example as a Door Supervisor, Security Guard, Festival or Sporting Event Steward.
You will gain new vocational and employability skills and qualifications to help you obtain paid employment, plus the connections to further your career. You will be given the opportunity for a work experience day within the industry.
The course will be delivered using a blended approach – taught sessions in centre, plus self-led learning with lesson resources provided, and you will need to commit to studying 5 days a week for the full 4 weeks. You will need access to the internet via tablet, laptop or pc.
You will gain the following qualifications:
- HABC L1 Certificate in Personal Development Employability
- L2 Award working as a Door Supervisor
- L3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work

Towards the end of the academy, you will prepare for and take part in a mock interview.
