Libby’s journey illustrates the life-changing impact of UKSPF-funded employment support in Torbay — enabling carers to re-enter work with flexibility and dignity.
Background/Reason for Joining Eat That Frog
Libby is a highly talented individual, but her role as a full-time carer for her autistic daughter meant she was unable to pursue employment for many years. Now that her daughter has started university, Libby has a little more time to focus on herself and is eager to re-enter the workforce. However, she needed a flexible role that would allow her to respond to any emergencies while her daughter settles into university life.

Understanding Libby’s needs, Eat That Frog worked closely with her to explore suitable job opportunities, identifying a flexible, work-from-home role. We supported Libby with her job search, arranged interviews, and provided tailored advice to strengthen her CV.
Despite being overqualified for the role, Libby’s initial application was rejected. However, with guidance from our team, she confidently followed up for feedback and assertively explained her reasons for applying for a position below her qualification level. This determination and advocacy ultimately led to her securing the job.
Outcome / Qualifications gained
Libby successfully secured employment in a flexible, home-based role, allowing her to balance work with supporting her daughter. She is now focused on developing her skills further and is committed to completing additional training to enhance her qualifications. This new opportunity provides her with the independence and stability she was seeking while still being available for her daughter as she navigates university life.
Libby is continuing her studies to gain a qualification in Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG), further enhancing her career prospects while maintaining the flexibility she needs.
