Sector Based Work Academy Programmes
What is a SWAP?
SWAP stands for Sector-Based Work Academy Programme and is an opportunity to learn new skills and gain new experience in a particular industry.
If you are claiming Universal Credit, JSA or ESA, live in England or Scotland, and are looking for work, then a SWAP could be a great way to find a new job.
What sectors do you cover?
We work closely with the UK government to provide a wide range of sectors. Our list is always adapting to the current local need. Please keep checking back.
How do I apply?
SWAPs are referred to us through the Job Centre Plus. You need to be registered with them and have a designated work coach.

The SWAPs are part of the Governments Back to Work Scheme
The programme is designed to help jobseekers, who are claiming either Universal Credit, Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), to build confidence, improve job prospects and enhance CVs.
SWAPs are available in many different industries, from construction, warehouse and logistics to public sector, hospitality and social care.
If you are interested in taking part in a SWAP, you will need to talk to your work coach, who will discuss with you the kind of opportunities available in your local area and if a SWAP is right for you.
